BCWD, Mabuhay Vinyl Corp. hold Chlorine Handling, Safety Seminar Date Posted: Tue. July 13, 2010
Bislig City Water District in coordination with Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation held a one-day Chlorine Handling and Safety Seminar at the 3rd floor of BCWD’s Multipurpose Building last April 16, 2010.
The seminar was held in view of the increasing number of improper chlorine handling incidents. BCWD Pumping Stations’ Operators, Chlorine Task Force, Drivers and Procurement Officer attended the seminar.
Likewise, the following Surigao Del Sur Water Districts Association (SURWADA) attended the seminar: Tandag, Lianga, Cantilan, Tagbina and Hinatuan. One also from Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation (MVC), Davao City joined the seminar.
There were thirty-four (34) participants from the different water districts including BCWD and MVC personnel.
MVC, Iligan City Account Executive Marpe S. Hontanosas and Chlorine In-Charge Rosalino A. Maghanoy shared their knowledge and expertise on the topic.
The training was not entirely on lecture and open forum but also with actual demonstration in the afternoon conducted at the Kauntuan Pumping Station of BCWD.
Mr. Maghanoy advised the participants to strictly monitor the chlorine cylinders to prevent the damage on the chlorine ejector. He emphasized the care in opening and closing of the cylinder spindle and to think always of safety.
The seminar ended with the giving of certificates to the participants and sumptuous snacks at the site.
